THE CELTIC LINK DISCUSSION FORUM
The main focus of this discussion forum is to create an open communication channel between people across the globe on all things Celtic! Having the ability to network with people on such a diverse range of topics is extremely valuable in this area and the sharing of information will hopefully bring the Celtic world closer together! However, please remember that discussion content is only as informative and meaningful as participants make it. So to maximize the discussion forum potential please read on:

Registration
In order to use the forums you will need to sign up and become a member of The Celtic Link.com. This is quick, free and easy. Once signed up you will have full exclusive access to all areas of The Celtic Link.com.

FORUM RULES AND ETIQUETTE
1. Before you post, THINK! If your post will not make a positive contribution, make sense, or be of any interest to several readers, then do not post!

2. Stop and Read. Many threads include sub-conversations within the original posting. When you're ready to respond, select the "Reply" option (not the "New Topic" option) and make sure that you're currently reading the post to which you want to reply. Many posts often get lost because a user will attach it to a wrong original post, or worse yet, post a whole new message when they wanted to post a reply to a particular message.

3. Try to stay on topic at all times. Try not to drift off topic during a thread conversation. Please don't join in with off topic discussion even if others are. If you want to digress, try starting a new thread and linking to it. Off topic posts may get deleted, and threads that really get out of hand will be closed.

4. Don’t duplicate topic threads. Make sure you search to see if a similar topic exists in the forum already before posting by using the forum search facility.

5. Avoid the use of all CAPITAL LETTERS in posts. All CAPS is considered "shouting" and makes your posts harder to read.

6. Post similar questions together. If you have several questions, it's better to ask them all in the one thread rather than create additional threads to ask each within. Make use of the “edit” feature in your post to add more information.

7. Use short but descriptive and relevant thread titles. When posting a new thread, it's a good idea to use a short, yet informative title, so it is not too long otherwise it may put visitors off from viewing it.

8. Write well! Follow standard grammar and spelling rules and try not to use slang. If needed, use the spell-check feature.

9. Avoid double posting! If you post additional identical replies/posts by mistake, please delete the duplicate replies by clicking the “delete” link at the right of the new post. Where you need to add more information on to your original reply, click “edit” at the right of your post and add more to it, instead of clicking “reply” and creating two replies.

10. Do not “flood” a forum. This is where one person posts many threads in a short space of time. Just remember, other members wish to use it also so allow them to be the last person to reply to a thread by not hogging the forums to get your name known!

11. No offensive, insulting, profane or vulgar remarks or words are allowed. While the forum is set up to filter many of these, there are still ways around posting these through the use of alpha/numeric. This rule applies anywhere on the site; your signature, custom title, posts and everywhere else you can submit something to the site. This also applies to comments about people not using the site. People violating these will have their post removed and will have their membership to The Celtic Link suspended.

12. Do not impersonate other visitors and admin or moderators at The Celtic Link. This will result in a ban from using the Forums.

13. Do not attempt to set up an alias account for the purpose of anonymity. We are able to identify who you are and if any attempts are made to do this, you will be banned from using The Celtic Link forums.

14. Do not create additional registered accounts to bypass a ban. If you feel you have been banned unfairly, contact the forum moderator or admin to discuss and resolve if possible. Creating a new account to bypass a ban will result in a ban from The Celtic Link.com and may lead to your ISP being informed of site abuse.

15. Needless to say, The Celtic Link.com in its entirety has no place for pornographic content and is strictly forbidden from anywhere on the site. This also includes the provision of links to source material, or the posting of pornographic text or imagery anywhere on the Site.

16. Do not advertise other websites/forums. Advertising through posts is strictly forbidden. This may be done as text links through your personal Profile, Custom Title or Signature. Signature banners that are explicit adverts are not allowed. Advertising another website through The Celtic Link to unsolicited visitors who you are unknown to, in an attempt to raise traffic, is also not permitted.

17. No “Trolling”. A troll is a person that posts something for the sole purpose of provoking other users and then watches as people start arguing. These people will do anything it takes to get attention. If you see a message like this, please DO NOT reply to it and notify a forum administrator or contact us at The Celtic Link. Trolling is primarily used for one of two reasons;
a) Either running a topic into the ground incessantly, or
b) Dragging up old and negative arguments long after the original discussion has been put to rest.
Trolling is the first step towards outright harassment of other members. This is the single biggest "no-no" in the community. Letting every argument drop isn't always a possibility, but learning when to let things drop is important.

Above all
You are responsible for all activity that originates from your account, including securing it from unauthorized use. Abuse from an account in whatever form will be punishable against the offending account. This includes abusive activity from leaving an account logged in on a public computer, as well as password sharing between one or more users.

About Spam
Unsolicited Commercial E-mail (UCE or "spam") can occur when users reveal their email addresses and others use them for personal gain. Although The Celtic Link asks for an email address on signing up, we do not reveal your email address to anyone unless you give us permission to do so. If you feel the need to reveal it in a post, at least break it up or modify it so automated email harvest programs cannot capture it (for example, username @ thecelticlink dot com) but people can easily decipher it.

And Finally…..
The rules above are there to ensure all users and visitors to The Celtic Link have an enjoyable experience. All we ask is that you maintain decorum at all times and ensure that the forum is a pleasant and informative area for people to be!

If you have any comments please feel free to contact us. Please also read our privacy policy.
